"Supercape!"

Bubbe and Granny Annie created this wonderful cape for Abraham. He wears it all the time and "flies" down the street--he puts his arms out to give the full effect of the flowing cape.

Bubbe visits

We are all having a great time with Bubbe (pronounced Bubbie). She arrived almost two weeks ago and is going to stay through the weekend. Last week was so nice we spent every minute outside and lots of time in the arboretum and the backyard.

Costco is so much fun!

Saturday in Franklin Park

I biked the kids to meet up with Erin, Anthony, Donna, Andy and Anamik for some croquet in the park. Abraham discovered a birds nest in a tree with Andy and became very interested in Anthony after asking numerous questions about him such as where he lives and what color his house told me "he's my favorite guy."

Patriots Day

We always get Marathon Monday off here in Boston. It's called Patriots Day. Today we hooked up the bike trailer for a maiden voyage.



The kids liked it ok. Abraham commented that next time he needs to bring a pillow- I guess it's because he fell asleep and his neck looked like it was bent in half. We hauled everyone to a playground in the South End where we could get coffees and chased them around trying to get them to eat lunch. Mom actually came with us--many Bostonians won't even ride bikes around town--so we were pretty proud of her.

On the ride home we pedaled past the site of a shooting that had occurred twenty minutes earlier--apparently a fight broke out during a friendly b-ball game. So, we had to dodge the police tape, police car and crowd in the middle of the bike path.

Mondays

Sharon has pretty much summed up Monday night dinners at our house in her post.

Should three year olds select their own clothing?

Abraham has also taken to going up to his room by himself, getting on a stool, taking clothing out of his drawers and putting it on himself. This has resulted in some interesting and often unfortunate outfits but we are happy he is taking the initiative-fewer trips up and down stairs for us.

This particular special outfit was selected for a playdate at Eva's house.

Angelo is crawling...maybe

For a couple weeks we have been looking up to discover Angelo on the otherside of the room from where we left him. Today at a birthday partyAngelo actually crawled a couple of steps to get at some birthday cake.

It's starting to be springtime

50 degrees means wearing a "long sleeve shirt" in Abraham's book. He means short sleeves, but can't seem to get it right.

Are they related?

Angelo points!

Angelo is full of new hand gestures these days and now he points. His favorite activity is walking up the steps and looking at the pictures hanging on the wall. He almost jumps out of my arms with excitement and smiles as I say everyone's name.

He's also mastering "ma ma" "da da" and "ball" pronounced "bah" and is using different sounds to point at things so he's really trying to use sounds to communicate! He is also showing some athletic promise and will pass a ball back and forth with you for an hour. He can now pick up a ball with one and throw it overhanded to you--as well as rolling, which he's be able to do for a while.

He might be on the move soon as he can sit up from being down on his belly--which means I went in his room last night and he was just sitting up waiting for me. He can move across the floor too-albeit backwards. He's probably pretty close to crawling or even standing and walking as he likes to stand and hold on to things with one hand.

Abraham went to school in his tiger-Halloween costume today after sleeping in it last night. He spent all weekend wearing a shark mask over a hooded sweatshirt. I was wondering if this was permitted at school and asked the teacher. She told me that's what preschool is all about. Then I got admonished for sending peanut products to school with Abraham--as he announced he brought a peanut butter granola bar today. On my way out of the school I noticed two other kids showing up in costumes.
